The Joy of Seeing Clearly

If you know Spanish but still hesitate when you speak, you’re in the right place.

This is where Spanish finally makes sense — as you start finding the patterns behind the language and begin to speak with more confidence.

You know what you want to say, but when you speak, choosing the right form slows you down — or even stops you.

Ser or estar. Preterite or imperfect. Indicative or subjunctive.

It’s not you. Using Spanish well is genuinely difficult.

You’re not a child learning your first language, and exposure alone isn’t enough.

Simple rules only work some of the time.

This doesn’t mean that Spanish is random.

The way verb forms are used follows patterns that repeat across real situations.

When you start to see these patterns, something changes.

Frustration gives way to the joy of understanding.

You begin to recognize what fits — and your options become clearer.

With practice based on these patterns, your choices become faster and more natural.

You don’t have to stop and think about every option.

You speak Spanish with confidence.

And that confidence helps you stay focused, remember more, and keep moving forward — creating a cycle that builds over time.

How Light On Spanish gives you clarity

Many of the patterns in Spanish are so natural to native speakers that they’re rarely explained clearly.

As a result, learners are often given simplified rules — or told to “just listen and practice” — without really diving deeper into what’s behind them.

We go beyond surface-level explanations to show you how Spanish really works.

Instead of relying on oversimplified rules, we focus on the patterns that appear again and again in real use.

You don’t need to know everything about Spanish to use it well — but you do need to see clearly how to make the right choices when you speak.

Because verbs are both essential and often the most confusing part of Spanish, much of our work focuses on helping you use them with confidence.

No more guessing why one form is used instead of another in similar situations.

You start to see the differences — and understand them.

These are some of the topics you will find inside Light On Spanish

VERBS

VERBS constitute the most important group of words in the Spanish language. They are the cornerstone of any sentence and must be mastered –at least to a certain level– in order to use the language with ease.

• VERB CONJUGATION

You will learn the different forms that any verb can take, and how to master them so they come easy when you speak.

• VERB TENSES

You will understand what each verb tense expresses and know which one to choose in each situation.

• VERB ASPECT

Understanding verbal aspect is the key to use the Spanish past tenses correctly. You will learn to use the two famous Spanish past tenses: the preterite tense and the imperfect tense.

• VERB MOOD

The use of the Spanish subjunctive mood is still a barrier for too many Spanish learners. Our system based in 4 different groups of mood triggers helps our members understand when to use the subjunctive mood once and for all.

DETERMINERS & PRONOUNS

Spanish DETERMINERS and PRONOUNS are variable words, and it is often unclear for learners which is the right form to use.

• DEMONSTRATIVES

Learn to choose between este, esta, esto, estos & estas.

• INDEFINITE WORDS

Master the use of mucho, muy, tanto & tan.

• POSSESSIVES

Understand when to use the long forms (mío, tuyo...) and the short forms (mi, tu...).

• ARTICLES

The use of articles in Spanish follows some patterns that don't exist in other languages. On top of that, there is a neuter article (lo) –even though there are no neuter nouns in Spanish– and it has the same form as one of the personal pronouns. Learn to differentiate them.

• PERSONAL PRONOUNS

Even some experienced Spanish learners have difficulties to use personal pronouns and choose the right position for them in the sentence. You will be able to work on that with us.

VOCABULARY

In order to be able to speak the language correctly, it is not enough to learn the words; we need to know the nuances that similar words express.

• CONFUSING VERBS

Master the use of ser, estar and haber; saber & conocer; ir & irse; comer & comerse; llevar & traer; hacerse, ponerse, volverse, convertirse & quedarse; and other challenging groups of verbs.

• PREPOSITIONS

Learn to use the right prepositions after verbs and nouns. Master the use of por & para.

CONTEXT

The magic of Light On Spanish is that resources are connected.

Something that is unique to our system is the opportunity you will have to see all the explained patterns in context and then study them in depth.

The exercises actually propose different lessons and sections in the learning platform where you can study in more detail something that has appeared in a given exercise.

• EL PRINCIPITO

You will practice and learn along the endearing story of The Little Prince. This course consists of short lessons that give you the opportunity to work on different aspects of the language.

• EXERCISES IN CONTEXT

We also have a section of original exercises to practice different topics. They always come with a context, so you can really understand the situation in which you would use the language structure you are practicing.
