Job Search Related Spanish Vocabulary

Have you ever had to look for a job in a Spanish speaking country? If you ever have to, some Spanish words and expressions related to job and career will come handy.

We have prepared a list of job search related Spanish vocabulary that you can use in any conversation related to your work life and career.

On top of that, some of these words will be also useful if you are searching for a job online—that's how most of us look for our next position nowadays, right? If you know some of these words and expressions, you can use them as keywords in your next search. You'll see how they lead you to opportunities you couldn't have reached just by searching in your native language.

There are different job search websites. For example, jooble.org allows you to search in different countries around the world, including Spanish speaking countries such as Spain, Mexico and Argentina.

We have also prepared an example conversation in which some of the vocabulary related to job search is used.

Example Conversation: John Looks for a Job in Spain

Antonio: ¡Hola John! ¿Qué tal? [Hi John! How are you?]

John: Muy bien. ¿Sabes? Me he graduado de la universidad. [Very well. Do you know what? I've graduated from university.]

Antonio: ¡Enhorabuena! ¿Qué vas a hacer ahora? [Congratulations! What are you going to do now? ]

John: Creo que voy a buscar trabajo. Quiero quedarme más tiempo en España. [I think I'm going to look for a job. I want to stay in Spain for longer.]

Antonio: ¡Qué bien! ¿Has empezado a buscar trabajo ya? [That's great! Have you already started to look for a job?]

John: Sí. Conozco una página web en la que se puede encontrar trabajo. La semana pasada me inscribí en algunas ofertas de trabajo y el próximo lunes tengo mi primera entrevista. [Yes. I know a web site where one can find a job. Last week I applied for a jobs and I have my first interview next Monday.]

Antonio: ¡No me digas! ¡Qué rápido! [No way! That's fast!]

John: Sí, pero necesito ayuda para escribir mi currículum en español. [Yes, but I need some help to write my CV in Spanish.]

Antonio: No te preocupes, yo puedo ayudarte con eso. [Don't worry, I can help you with that.]
